My goal for my photography portfolio site is to create a well organized and simple layout that reflects my personality and style. When researching other photographer’s websites, I came upon two websites that I think would work well for my style if combined. The website of Marten van Dijl has nice navigation qualities, but I prefer the slideshow quality of Dan Kennedy‘s website. I would like to take elements from each of these websites and shape them to fit the design and style of my own site and my own work. For the slideshow I will be using a jquery lightbox instead of a slideshow. I would like to keep the slideshow element intact in some way, by using a lightbox that has both forward and back buttons on the pop up window. I prefer the idea of being able to click once, and continue instead of clicking a thumbnail, and then having to close out of the box to click on another picture. I want to keep the color scheme of the website simple, using black and white, with a possible splash of a color in the navigation. I would like to separate my work into specific categories including; alternative processes, sliver gelatin prints, digital manipulation, photojournalism, pictorialism, portraiture, and nature. Though I want to focus mainly on my work, I would also like to include a space to put my artist statement and resume, and possibly a place that I can be contacted from. Overall, I really just want to make sure that my site reflects my style and personality.
